HP ProLiant DL120 Gen9 - installation Windows Server 2022

Copper Contributor

Hello everyone!

Im sure the answer is yes, but I want to be safe about the answer.

We have a HP ProLiant DL120 Gen9 with a Intel Xeon CPU E5-2620 v4 and 32GB RAM.

I'm 99,9% sure that I can install there without problems and use Windows Server 2022.

I can't think of anything why server 2022 should not run on this machine, but as I said, I want to be 100% sure.

Now - Can I install and use without doubts? :D

Thank you for answers!

Kind regards,

Goodfred

No, Windows Server 2016 is the highest supported operating system for that model. Starting from HP Gen10 versions the 2022 version is supported. https://techlibrary.hpe.com/us/en/enterprise/servers/supportmatrix/windows.aspx

You can always try, but your mileage may vary and you can't contact HP or download drivers from them for your model.

Was this enough information for you?
Or did you try to install it and did it work even without it being supported?
I think it will work without beeing supported, but I've not tried it until now.
It will be a project in the future to upgrade the server from 2012 r2 zu 2019/2022.
I think we will try to install it. I think it will definitively work! (without support)

I know this is old but if someone else comes across the post
Server 2022 installed fine in a ML350 Gen9
Perform all firmware upgrades in Linux
Install Windows Server 2022 without Intelligent Provisioning
Install cp040885.exe first (Chipset)
cp048869.exe Array, cp037465.exe Array notifications, cp038692.exe Matrox Video, cp037927.exe iLO, cp047524.exe Agent Management Service, Running of Service Packs for Gen9 and Gen10

Thanks RonaldRossi, this saved me a bunch of time trying to find the CPs to install. everything detected after installing the above CP on a DL380 gen9.
