How to change the IP of Windows Faiolver clustering

Copper Contributor

Hello

We have windows server 2012R2 STD Host Failover clustering with 10 nodes and 20 roles inside.

How should it change the ip address of network and management, heartbeet, so that we can seamlessly start the process.

Please suggest the step wise ip changing process.

Hello @miteshnettelnetwork,

what are you trying to do exactly? Do you have to move the Hyper-V hosts to another/different subnets?

Which roles do you use exactly? Every role that depends on cluster communication will be potentially affected so you should always do changes during maintenance windows only.

The cluster IP address can be changed as follows:

  1. Open Failover Cluster Manager and connect to the cluster
  2. In the Failover Cluster Manager pane, select your cluster and expand Cluster Core Resources.
  3. Right-click the cluster, and select Properties >IP address.
  4. Change the IP address of the failover cluster using the Edit option and click OK.
  5. Click Apply.

IP addressing for management and heartbeat network is changed via the network adapter properties. Before you do that I would suggest to shut down all roles to avoid network failures.
