On a VM with thin provisioned drives, the disk defrag / optimisationn utility recognises what it is and seems to just want to trim it, rather than defragment it.
On a number of my VMs, it is reported 'Needs optimsation (xx% spae efficiency)' xx is a number and always seems to be below 50%.
Clicking the optimise button makes it analyse the drive, but the end result is still that the same message is displayed, with the same percentage. Could anyone clarify what this actually means and whehter any action is needed? I suspect it means that the thin provisioned drive has expanded beyond the current data on it (these VMs have recently had a clean-up and stuff has been deleted from them), but I'm not certain about this.
