Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.7.2 and 4.8 for Windows Server 2019 for x64 (KB5029647)

Hi,

The server is running windows server 2019 essentials.

One month ago an update failed and then a boot loop started and lasted 2 days.

It was auto restarting, not even log in screen.

Then I checked the updates and I got this message:

Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80073712)
2023-08 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.7.2 and 4.8 for Windows Server 2019 for x64 (KB5029647)

Today, 24 Sept 2023, the same incident occurred but the boot loop lasted for 3 hours and then I got this message:
2023-09 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5, 4.7.2 and 4.8 for Windows Server 2019 for x64 (KB5030178)

I tried to install these updates via the microsoft catalogue but when installing them I get the message that they are not relevant to this server. I also checked back in time and I found another failed update in June relate to .NET Framework (KB5027536). I also tried to re-install .NET Framework 4.8 but I got the message that a most recent version is already installed.

I was lucky up to now because this failure occured during a non working day...

How can I fix this issue?

Does anyone know the solution?

Many thanks in advance.

You can also try a repair install by running setup.exe from the root of the install.

I wouldn't hold much hope for this, time may be better spent standing up a new one, patch it fully, migrate the roles over and move on.

Yes, that's correct. A repair install can be performed by running setup.exe from the root of the 2019 install media, but I wouldn't hold much hope for this, time may be better spent standing up a new one, patch it fully, migrate the roles over and move on.
