adding pc to my domain

hi guys,

 

only joined. hope everyone is ok :) 

 

i have just started studyin mcsa, instead of buying teh server and pcs, i opted out for virtualisation.

 

i have installed server 2016 first then 3 pc.

 

the problem is i cant seem to add any of the 3 pcs to my server.

 

can anyone help please?

you can access this from control panel

 

this is how DNS section of your DNS server (which is a different Windows server with DNS server role installed in it) should look like.

And this is how DNS section of your client computer, the one that is trying to contact your domain controller, should look like

 

The IP address i put there is just an example, you need to set your own DNS server's IP address there.

Please consider using one of the free guides to set up your DNS server if it's the first time. you will get the hang of it eventually :)

thank you, thing is when i did all this, it was over 5 years ago and i remember i used contoso to help me with my 70-680 exam. that name worked with my server back then.
Like I said there is a configuration that you can set up to use even contoso.com . my comment above
