CLAT (for 464XLAT) for lan and wireless

Copper Contributor

Hi, I've seen this blog post from three years ago: https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/networking/2017/07/13/core-network-stack-features-in-the-creator...

Could you please provide an update on when (of if already how) to configure the clat for connectivity to IPv6 only networks?

There is a public hotspot network around here that works perfectly fine with android phones, and also mostly with windows, but some apps are failing because of hard coded IPv4 addresses. And we're also planing to have IPv6 only networks for our selves, so information on this would be very appreciated.

Nothing has changed and it's been a while. Why limit this feature to just WWAN interface? It would be really useful for wired/wifi interface too.
I have to agree that this is definitely an important feature. Now that RFC 8781 and RFC 8925 are becoming more widely used (and with the ipv4only.arpa well-known domain as a fallback), it would be very useful if Windows could automatically configure CLAT when on *any* network that's IPv6-only or IPv4-optional.

It's worth noting that Apple seems to be handling this flawlessly as of iOS 15 and macOS Monterey, allowing IPv4 literals to work on networks without any IPv4 connectivity as long as there's a NAT64 prefix to be discovered.
