Windows 11 Freezing Issue Resolved

Copper Contributor

Issue:

Computer experiencing persistent freezing even when running basic tasks and not under heavy load.

Hardware:

- AMD Ryzen 5900X processor without overclocking.

- Gigabyte 570X Elite Wifi motherboard.

- Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC graphics card.

- Gigabyte Ballistix 3600 32GB RAM.

- Samsung 970 PRO NVMe SSD.

- Running on Windows 11 Version 22H2 (OS Build 22621.1778).

Applications in use:

- Steam for gaming.

- Google Chrome.

- Brave Browser.

- Discord.

Troubleshooting steps taken:

- Removed all SATA SSDs and running solely on the new NVMe drive.

- Fresh installation of Windows 11 and installation of latest Nvidia Driver for RTX 3080.

- Conducted a comprehensive RAM test, which passed without issues.

- Ran Prime 95 on the CPU to monitor temperatures, which remained stable.

- Able to game without freezing issues, even during extended sessions with games like Apex Legends, DOOM, and Battlefield.

- However, experiencing frequent freezes when performing light tasks such as browsing the internet or using the desktop.

Further details:

- Analyzed event viewer but found no significant anomalies.

- Addressed some DCOM errors, yet the freezing persists.

- Attempted installing Windows 10 on a separate drive; encountered freezing during installation and even after completion.

- Since the freezing issue persists regardless of the Windows version used, suspecting a hardware problem.

Considering that there are no error messages like a BSOD to provide clues, suspect that the CPU (which is 2 years old) may be malfunctioning and requiring additional voltage to operate smoothly, especially noticeable under heavy loads.

Seeking advice on adjusting the CPU voltage settings to set it slightly higher than usual for potential stability improvement.
