Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16176 for PC is in Fast ring!

Microsoft

Today we are excited to be releasing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 16176 for PC to Windows Insiders in the Fast ring. We’re continuing work to refine OneCore with some code refactoring so that teams can start checking in new code. So, you still won’t see any noticeable changes or new features in new builds just yet.

Windows Update listed this build as ready to update, but after I restarted my PC it wasn't installed and now WU says my PC is up to date.

MS should make all the ISOs available so that when Update screws up we can still install it.

we generally release ISOs for Slow ring builds, but you could try checking on WU again.

Windows Update has tried many times to download and install Build 16176, all with the same result - it gets to about 90% then says "Some updates were cancelled. We'll keep trying in case new updates become available.". No reason why and I have tried all the tricks posted on various sites, none have resolved the issue.

Can't see the reason for not posting the ISO.

As stated previously - I have tried all the suggested fixes.  None have worked.  Even Windows Update Repair.  The update gets to 99% and stays there for 5-10 minutes and finely gives the error.

Also, it initilaizes for a long time before it even starts to download.

C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download

Delete everything in that folder, reboot, and re-download the update.

Can you also please file feedback for this through Feedback Hub and send us the link so we can take a look at the underlying issue.

My machine is trying to install 16179, have tried it about 10 times now and returned various failure codes, not sure what is causing it, had a look on our firewall is downlaoding from various locations, some in US and some in NZ (akamai) and eventually gives up. Initializing updates takes for ever, somtimes it even starts to download, had a download complete 100% this morning and then it started over again.

Would be realy handy if we could just download ISO's as that is a process that is very easy to control/check, you either get it or you don't, less FUZZY than via windows update, no need to delete reg key's, clear software distribution folder, realy keen to contribute but it is just getting to difficult with these sort of issues, thanks

thanks for the feedback Adri. We don't release ISOs for each Fast Ring, we generally release them for Slow Ring. Most users are going to be upgrading via WU not using media ISOs so you're testing the upgrade infrastructure in the cloud and client side. Thanks for being a Windows Insider!

Hi Nathan, thanks for the feedback, normally not on the fast ring, but at the moment trying to get an update for 15063 to test that my removal process for in-box apps worked, when is the next slow ring ISO expected that is higher than 15063? Adri

just had this in my firewal log, not sure if it is relevant but only running WU on that machine at the moment

As I stated before, I tried all those suggestions.  Here is how I solved it;

Restored my boot, recovery, and system partitions from an Acronis image

Deleted C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\

Deleted C:\Windows\System32\catroot2\

Deleted C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\

Deleted HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\RequestedAppCategories\8B24B027-1DEE-BABB-9A95-3517DFB9C552

Turned off "Give me updates for other Microsoft products when I update Windows"

Ran latestwu.diagcab

Rebooted

Ran Windows Update - this time it completed
