Unable to update windows insider build to latest version

Copper Contributor

Hello.

Currently using windows insider, version 2004, OS build 19640.1.

I get a notification this morning that my build version expires tomorrow, 31st july.

So I try to go to updates section in settings, check for new updates, which keeps showing Up to date.

I'm not sure why I am unable to update to a new build version.

I tried to go the insider webpage, selected update now option, got redirected to update page in settings and got same results.

Please help me with the same.

Thanks and regards,

Ebrahim Rupawala.

Hello @ebrahim1604,

I recommend you to download one of the latest build (i.e. build 20175 atm) ISO file available here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windowsinsiderpreviewadvanced?wa=wsignin1.0

Then perform in-place upgrade with the ISO file using this guide:

Hope this helps!

@ebrahim1604  What Channel are you configured for? You build is a Dev build. My guess is it's possible that you changed your settings to Beta Channel or Release Preview.  This will not work. To move from Dev to Beta, RP, or retail, you will need to perform a clean install.  If you want to remain in Dev, simply move back to the Dev Channel and check for updates.  You should see 20180 and after updating to that build your expiry will be extended.
