RSAT for Windows 11 ARM64

Copper Contributor

When will we see the addition of RSAT such as Active Directory, DHCP and Group Policy Management on Windows 11 Pro using ARM64?

@Alabamatom1963 this does NOT work on ARM64 machines, particularly Mac users with Apple silicon using Parallels.  We are looking for a solution.  Do you have another one?

Hopefully this will have its priority bumped up now that Microsoft will be bringing out more ARM based computers. It is unfortunate that it has taken so long.

@MpCarroll Microsoft is chasing its competitors and want to do too many things. For example, the new Teams app for Mac came out months later than Windows, and all users have to use their web browser to use Teams.

Is there any time frame for this new feature?
Dear Microsoft, do you have any update? Missing RSAT on ARM is real blocker for switch to Copilot+ PC 😞
Just got the new Surface Pro and upgraded to Windows Enterprise, only to find out the most essential sysadmin tools are still unavailable. The community has been asking for over 2 years (at least). Without RSAT you can't even get the AD PowerShell module.
It's actually really bad. MS needs to provide a real solution (not telling people to use WAC or RDP).

@Kylem843 September 8th, 2024 and still waiting. Currently using Remote Desktop.

Work just purchased a Surface Laptop 7 for me. It is completely baffling that RSAT tools aren't available, which means numerous powershell commands aren't available. I am so confused by what MS expects us to do here. Admin Center does not cut it.
In case it helps anyone, I was able to get the AD module for PowerShell by copying it over from another device. I needed to copy the .psm1 file and some related helper files, but at this point I can't recall exactly what it needed. But it works. No luck so far for the snap-ins, unfortunately.

As far as I have tested this is one of the biggest mysteries about Windows 11 24H2 ARM.  While it is a huge improvement over the same in Windows 10, the lack of AD integration and tools and snap ins to powershell make it a no go for an IT user.

Also an issue if you are running a VM on a M processor Mac.

other things like some AV products and some other important tools we use are just missing and then trying to get a network printer with a good driver to work was impossible from what I tested.

I used a Dell Latitude 7455 Snapdragon chip PC and a VM on MacBook Air M2 @Kylem843

@JohnPiscitelli Microsoft really needs to add these in.  if they add AD's RSAT tools into Win 11 ARM and then we can run products like ARS for AD that would go a long way to making it more mainstream and for IT pros.

Next I need to get Remote Desktop manager free with Safenet keys working 100%

after that Cortex AV, Duo and Macrium Reflect for cloning work and it will have come a really long way to working with a lot of our tools and then I could see this really taking off.  It is a shame since they did such an incredible job with the emulator, our ERP system Info's ancient Baan ERP from 20+ years ago installed and ran well.

We need to know when these features can be added and cannot wait a full year, they need to be added to the product soon. fingers crossed

Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) for Windows 11 Pro on ARM64 devices like those using the Qualcomm Snapdragon or Apple M1/M2 chips are not available. Microsoft has not yet released an ARM64-compatible version of RSAT, which includes tools like Active Directory, DHCP, and Group Policy Management.

@Kylem843 there is now "mul_languages_and_optional_features_for_windows_11_version_24h2_arm64_dvd_5c4dae5b.iso" out but still can't get it installed... 😞

Is that a windows insider update? Where are you seeing that?

unfortunately there still is no update for RSAT tools on Win 11 of any kind with the ARM version, hoping to see it at some point or that will never take off for IT pros. @mmaasen

Hopefully they provide update this soon. I just started using one of the new Surface Laptop 7 devices with the Snapdragon X and it has been a great experience so far. It would seem that the RSAT tools shouldn't really be CPU specific as many of them are just an MMC snap it. Interestingly enough, the HyperV Management tools are part of the ARM version and work fine. Unfortunately, I am doing everything else with RDP. @JohnPiscitelli

@MpCarroll

But what you could do.. Is get your hands on server 2025 (the ARM version) install that, RSAT from server for ARM works just perfect. This is also working fine on a Macbook with Apple silicon. 🙂

@AHHG-JNH This is a non solution, I always manage my servers from a service machine that has RSAT tools.
