Mouse cursor trail staying on screen

Copper Contributor

I updated to release 240209-1555 and since then my mouse leaves a trail of flashing blue and white cursors.

Restarting did not fix the problem and tech support said I needed to post here as I have the preview addition.

Thanks in advance for any support.

@Ericn83  Hi,

There is already a new update I suggest you download and install, if that doesn't help then a driver update may be needed.

I appear to have this issue too and am on the latest insider version available as of today. CPU utilization is high to extremely high where they system cannot function. Out of curiosity, I created a brand new localized user which does not exhibit the issue. Also, the issue does not occur if I power off the Bluetooth mouse before logging in (perhaps obvious, but indicates the issue is related to the mouse, it's drivers, and/or the usb drivers, etc.)

Type mouse into search and when Menu opens up Unlick Display pointer Trails. That should solve your problem.

That's essentially the mouse control panel and Display pointer trails is already unchecked. Thank you though for the suggestion.

I did toggle that setting and hit apply. Then again so it was back to uncheck. Also, it seems that I can sometimes reboot and login without having the issue (maybe some localized profile corruption of some sort).

Thanks for the post, but none of those solutions are applicable. The problem started with a recent Windows insider update.
