Issues with User Accounts and Desktop Appearance

Copper Contributor

I have run into some issues with my computer after trying to fix a problem that caused the "Open file location" or "Save image as" option to open the Desktop folder instead of the target folder.

Initially, I attempted to create a new user to see if the issue persisted, but it did not occur with the new user. However, I encountered difficulties migrating my account to the new user profile. Although I removed the second account from settings, it still appears in This PC, and its Desktop content is being displayed on my screen instead of my original account's Desktop.

In an attempt to resolve this, I considered a repair install, but encountered a snag when the ISO downloaded to the original folder on the first account, leading me to believe it hadn't downloaded. I eventually found the ISO in the original user account via This PC, but the Repair Install was not carried out.

I then tried to revert to a restore point before the issue occurred, but the two user profiles are still visible in This PC. My files are located in the original user Desktop Folder, which I can only access through This PC.

To simplify matters, I am contemplating deleting the second user profile from This PC. This action may allow for a fresh attempt at the Repair Install. I am hoping to avoid resorting to a Clean Install, although that possibility is on my mind.

I apologize for the confusion and appreciate any further guidance on resolving this situation.
