Same as the last three updates - gets stuck at the windows logo with no spinning dots. Have to power off and revert to 17035.

Build 17083 fixed the problem with my acer desktop, it installed fine.  (The BIOS hard-coded virtualization on issue for acer desktops...)

Please check to see if your install allows automatic updates. I got this version installed and had automatic updates set to on, but today I checked and the button was set to off and I cannot turn it on. I had this problem before. This is making me crazy.

Michael, wouldn't automatic updates be wrong in this case because then it would not allow us as Insiders to fully test the new Windows 10 versions.  You install an update manually and then see if there is an error, right and then are able to write about it and report it to Microsoft.

I don't know if that is the way the Insider editions are set up. I assume the Windows Defender would still update but it has not since the current slow build. I will wait to see if it resolves with the next slow update to the next version. But this was the same problem before 17074. I could not get this update until I downloaded an ISO and used that to update.

My Windows insider preview version 17074.1002 freezes (SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION) my Surface 3 Pro only when I login with my (long used) MS Account. I can login and work with another user which was already on the maschine.

Even elevating this other working user did not work, every time I entered the password of the admin user the system crashed.

Now when I removed ntuser.dat.log1 and ntuser.dat.log2 from the "bad" users profile, I was able to login again. But then the profile cannot be saved any more.

So how can I make the ntuser.dat.logx files 17074 compatible again?

My understanding is that Microsoft is working on an update to your issue Holger.

I had so many GSOD that I gave up on Windows until I removed Acronis.
No more problems.

Thanks for the information.  BTW, Have you tried fully testing the Fall Creator's Update.  I have found version 1709 to still be buggy in testing.  I suggest version 1703 or less to all my clients.  I fix computers in the States.

I run 17083. Works fine now that Acronis is gone.

Thanks for the information Jim.  I will have to upgrade to that version.
