Clicking on the taskbar or on the start menu produces nothing, no pop-ups, no tooltips etc. nor does clicking on an active program icon result in switching to that window. Nothing happens! Same behaviour in the start menu. Both zones just pointless decoration apart from the search field which does seem to work - though I never use it!
