Heather, it's good to see your leadership here . I would like to just plant an idea here for later consideration "All of the engineers at Microsoft are very qualified and do excellent work but I have noticed a trend over the last couple of years where there is a gap developing between how Microsoft sees the system working and how the customer sees the system working; it is my opinion that this gap is caused by the demand for excellence among the engineers and the ability of the customer to make sense of what is actually going on. The story could be characterized by engineers taking brain pills to improve their cognitive function and customers drawing flowcharts and using other devices to figure out how to use the system, so it seems to me. In order to be competitive in the industry, Microsoft needs to come up with a plan to enhance customer satisfaction by creating snippet models. Snippet models are miniature flowcharts or models that show the user how to get from point A to point B… you push a button and lo and behold a graphic video shows the workflow that must be employed to get the right results. Think of a flow chart where the field of view adjusts forward in concert with where the work is being performed. The engineers at Microsoft must go out of the box in their thinking to teach on the fly, rather than hyperlinking to an article showing an overview that is often confusing, time prohibitive, and tangential. The operational instruction set must be put into smaller, dynamic packages of learning that are easily reinforced and understood. Call it on time learning. But please know that your software is becoming harder to use because there is a difference in the brain line between the authors and the client. A boardroom interpretation encourages the thinking that the granularity of training must be significantly reduced and on time before the user goes off into never-never land." I firmly believe that we should consider a whole new way of communicating when using windows or office. It is unsettling to think that our use of the software be based totally on intuition or presumptuous logic.
