Hello all,
I'm running Windows 11 Pro - OS Build: 22631.4249
I'm having an issue with Windows Update.
When I open Windows Update it always tells me i am up to date, but if i then run Windows Update it always finds this update:
Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538242)
It always says it's completed but if i run Windows Update again straight away it finds it again. I can restart the machine and the same thing happens, every time i run Windows Update this is found and apparently installed.
I tried to to download the update and install it manually from here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347
(Choosing the vcredist_x64.exe option)
But when i run it i get this error message:
Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly
'policy.8.0.Microsoft,VC880.ATL,type="win32-policy",version="8.8.50727.6195",publucKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorArchitecture="amd64"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information.
I'm the complete opposite of an expert and don't really know anything about Windows, so but if someone would be kind enough to give me idiot proof instructions on how to get this update installed, i would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for any help!
