Win 11 wallpaper bug

Copper Contributor

Hey all,

I am using a year old HP laptop. I received the win 11 update on 28th October 2021.

Here's the problem I'm experiencing:

Every time after rebooting or turning on the computer, the wallpaper I set up shows bugged. I can only see a stripe of the picture, on the top with the rest of the screen covered by small, sometimes green, sometimes blue, bubbles, neatly organized in rows and columns with a pale background.

The problem goes away when I change the desktop background/theme. All my drivers are up to date. I have updated win 11 to the latest version available on my PC.

System Specifications:

Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1135G7 @ 2.40GHz

Ram: 8GB

System type: 64 bit

Software: Windows 11 Home single language

OS build: 22000.282 ; Version: 21H2

Graphics: Nvidia Geforce Mx350

Any suggestion would be great. Thank you for your time. Have a great day.

Exact same issue on my end.

Same issue with a surface laptop 4 that I just bought and instantly upgraded to Windows 11. Opening settings to go to personalization fixes it without me toggling anything, but it seems windows is having an issue retrieving the file itself and refreshes when you get into the settings.
exact same issue

Same issue here. I installed Windows 11 a few days ago and every time I turn on my PC the wallpaper appears glitched. It's not even a custom wallpaper, it's one of the wallpapers that come with Windows 11. I have to open Personalization and select a different wallpaper/theme then select the one I want again.
