New Windows 11 experiences delivered via servicing

Community Manager

If you saw the big announcement from Panos Panay this morning about new features for Windows 11, make sure to read the companion post from @Harjit_Dhaliwal for details on when and how features and experiences released as part of continuous innovation roll out to the end users in your organization.

First stop: Continuous innovation coming to Windows 11 in March

Important things to call out from the blog post:

  • The new features and enhancements outlined in the blog post are being delivered as part of the normal Windows monthly update process. Today's experiences are being first released as part of an optional non-security preview release today prior to being included in the regular monthly quality update (aka "B" release or "Patch Tuesday" release) on March 14th.
  • By default, all features introduced via servicing that are behind commercial control will be off for Windows-Update-managed devices until they are released as part of the next annual feature update. You can turn them on for your end users by using a new client policy detailed here.
  • For select features, Microsoft will introduce new policies that enable you to configure the feature in a preferred way for your organization.

If you have questions or comments, please leave those at the bottom of Harjit's blog post. I'm not an expert; just trying to share some insights! :smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes:
