My Windows time is always wrong

Copper Contributor

I have used WPD (https://wpd.app/) to block all Windows telemetry, and I have also disabled features like location and camera in Windows Privacy settings.

However, I'm experiencing an issue with my computer's time being consistently incorrect. I have manually set the time and chosen my time zone as India (UTC+05:30), but every time I restart my PC after a few days, the time is wrong again. I find it disappointing that the Windows experience is not as reliable as Linux or Mac. The solutions provided on forums are too generic, and I haven't been able to find any relevant information on Google. Can you help me with this issue?

Hi abhimanyuaryan,

First of all, navigate to Settings > Time & language > Date & time
- Set time automatically: toggle ON
- Additional settings: "Sync Now" to time.windows.com. Does this work?

- In addition, you can always choose another time service, such as time.nist.gov, instead of time.windows.com

Also check that the URL time.windows.com is allowed by wpd.app.

@MathieuVandenHautte hey I am not sure program or setting is blocking the request. But see my windows can't receive packets from these domains when doing a ping request time-settings.png

trying to add more time servers following this: https://www.technipages.com/fix-windows-wont-sync-with-time-windows-com/

Let's see if that works
Hi,

Can your machine resolve the domains? Can you check with nslookup?
yes looks like it was able to resolve the domain. Output

```
C:\Users\aryan>nslookup time.windows.com
Address: 192.168.0.1
Aliases: time.windows.com
ok I added new domains for time in Registry. But they don't appear in Date & Time setting in drop down list. So I am stuck with two default domains. Maybe it's because I don't Windows Pro 11 and Registry Editing is only allowed in Pro?
@abhimanyuaryan, see if this video fix helps you anyway (works with Windows 11 as well):
Hope this helps!
