How to disable auto update on Windows 11?

Copper Contributor

I reinstalled Windows 11 on my computer because the new update broke my desktop and could not fix the issue. I want to know is there any way to disable the auto update to avoid the same issue in future?

Thank you

Disabling auto updates is not recommended. However, if you like, you can pause updates using native feature.

As other person commented, it is not a great idea to disable the auto update feature on Windows. If you still want to do it, then you can by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
As far as I know, you can only pause the update in Settings app. You have to trick the registry entry if you need to turn off auto update on Windows 11 permanently.
