How can I enable BitLocker on my data drive?

Copper Contributor

I wish to encrypt my data drive with BitLocker (D:) in order to prevent data leak. However, I don't find the option from the Settings panel. I am running Windows 11 Home.

Thanks

You can open File Explorer and navigate to "This PC." And right-click on your data drive (D:) and select "Turn on BitLocker." Follow the on-screen instructions to set up BitLocker encryption for your drive.
On Windows 11 Home edition, BitLocker feature is not available.

If your device supports, you can enable Device Encryption instead, but this can enabled for entire system, not specific drive:

If you still want to enable BitLocker, you need to upgrade to Pro edition.

Hope this helps!
