When I first installed Windows 10 it somehow added my account twice. Since then the computer will not turn off because it thinks the other account is still on. Both accounts are identical. I have to hold the power button down to turn it off. How can I get the extra account off? I've tried everything.

Hello @JDutton,

Windows will not let you add account with same name twice.
Still, try these steps and see if you can remove other account:
Press Windows + R, type netplwiz and click OK.
Locate the extra account you want to erase and click Remove.
Click Apply, OK.
Regards.

HI @JDutton
That happens when you set an automatic access, but the password typed isn't correct.
Run netplwiz and check Users must enter a user name .., then restart.
If you cannot see that option, then disable Windows Hello in Settings/Accounts/Sign-in options.
After that you can uncheck the option and type the correct password when required. Unfortunately there's no control in such occasion.
