Windows 10 - defaultuser purpose?

MVP

I have freshly new installed Windows 10 - build 1903 ..., I see that there is local user with admin rights "defaultuser0" , sometimes even few instances of the same user...

What is purpose of this account? Except the OOBE (out-of-box-experience)

Can it be safely deleted account and user profile? or is it used for something?

It seems that it starts the auto-login for this on windows lock screen (maybe needed for new web-sign in?)..

Can not find more information about this particular local user in any documentation....

Please help with information, thank you in advance

Hello,

Defautuser0 should only be used during OOBE and should be deleted post setup.

This is used to support for additional features like Autopilot and some Microsoft Account and Azure scenarios.

If it's not cleaned up post setup there should be a scheduled task to clean this up after 10 days.

Task - RemoveTempOOBEUserWork

This should clean it up if the user has administrative rights

@Darrell Gorter Thank you for the information, in some cases multiple defaultuser accounts are created.

Anyhow, can you please reference offical documentation on your mentioned response? Thank you, Kind regards
