Updating Enterprise

Copper Contributor

I don't know if this is the right forum to post this on but I would appreciate anyone's help on this.

My Desktop is running Enterprise N 2016 LTSB, which isn't really useful to me as i'm not a company : /

It's on version 1607 and it's telling me it's up to date. The only reason I have it installed is because I got it for free from a friend who had a bunch of keys. long story short I'm trying to play a game which needs the latest version of windows and its not letting me play. I've been trying to solve this for the past 2 hours myself but to no avail

tldr:

1.Can I update Enterprise to the latest version myself (I don't have the original key, since it was digital)

or 2.Can I force downgrade to Pro or even home since It doesn't really make a difference to me

Thanks a lot

@zbujojr . Enterprise  N key is different from the Enterprise  key.  Also you using LTSB is different from all editions, so upgrading is not possible.

I would recommend you to use windows 1o pro-1909 and clean installation by formatting C partition only.

If you want to enjoy robust advanced security features, then you can use windows 10 enterprise 1909 .

The current latest version from windows is  18363.753 in 1909 64bit

Hello@zbujojr

if your license is digital, i.e tied to your Microsoft account, then you can use generic keys to downgrade/upgrade to any edition of Windows 10.

but remember, if your Microsoft account doesn't contain the license for the edition you are switching to, your Windows will be deactivated and says activation required.

you can always download the latest Windows 10 version from here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

LTSB/C is a long term servicing branch/channel, meaning it can run for up to 10 years without the need to get feature updates.

for gaming usually Windows 10 pro is the best option.

Where to buy Windows 10 license? From Windows store app and from their website:
