Folder Auditing/Effective Access

Copper Contributor

In Windows 10 under properties -> security -> Advanced, can you audit or give effective access that is owned by TrustedInstaller or would you have to take ownership of that folder first before you can audit or give effective access to that folder?

Please Note: I am not trying nor attempting to destroy my computer in any way shape or form, I am only asking this question for informational purposes only

Your help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hi Padlock,

You would need to take ownership of the folder. You can always transfer ownership back to TrustedInstaller once you have made the modifications you need.

Here are some articles to help

Hope that helps. If I have answered your question please like and set as the solution. If you need anything else please let me know. Thanks for raising to the community and I hope to answer more of your questions in the future!
