Windows.old directory

Copper Contributor

So I have noticed that the windows feature upgrades create a Windows.old directory and when you try to delete it, the system pops up an error stating some files are in use. Windows is not using up twice as much hard drive space. 25GB+- for the Windows Directory and 25GB+- for the Windows.old directory. Is there a reason for this? Is there a way to delete this directory. is this going to be the expected configuration going forward for Feature update? - Currently on 1809.

thanks

@Howard Lavalette  Bom dia,

No artigo abaixo, existe as informações e dúvidas sobre como remover e os impactos da pasta windows.old

https://www.techtudo.com.br/dicas-e-tutoriais/noticia/2016/03/windowsold-saiba-o-que-e-e-como-exclui...

Hi,

there are 2 ways to do it,

1st:

Right-click on the C drive (the Windows installation drive) and go to properties. then click on "**bleep** cleanup". follow the instructions in the picture and click ok, let it finish and your Windows.old folder will be gone.

2nd way:

Go to the Windows settings => System => Storage => then follow the pictures below:

either of those ways you choose will remove the Windows.old for you.
