Power BI report template updates in advanced insights

We’re making a few updates to our Power BI report template offerings in advanced insights. We’ll share more information and documentation about these experiences soon.

New hire onboarding and development report

Research shows it typically takes new employees 12 months to reach their full performance potential. To help leaders understand and improve the onboarding experience of new hires or those in the company who’ve moved to a new role, we’re building a new Power BI report template in advanced insights: New hire onboarding and development. With this report, you can focus on the entire period a new hire is learning, connecting, and developing in their new role.

We're planning to introduce this report to private preview in April. If you're interested in signing up to participate in the preview, please complete this form: Viva Insights Onboarding and development analyst report preview (microsoft.com).

Wellbeing – balance and flexibility report

We’re adding three new pages to the Wellbeing – balance and flexibility Power BI template report in advanced insights. These pages will replace the existing Improve focus page:

  • Protect focus (overview) – Get a baseline view of how much time employees have to focus and how much time they kept as focus time using Viva Insights.
  • Protect focus (adoption) – Discover how consistently employees are keeping focus time each week, and whether they’re using a focus plan.
  • Protect focus (impact) – View how many focus hours employees are keeping and whether they’re using a focus plan to do so. Also, find out how focus time is impacting after-hours collaboration, and whether a shared no-meeting day might help reduce meeting conflicts during focus time.

Here's an example of the overview page:

New impact metrics in advanced insights

As a part of the Wellbeing – balance and flexibility report update, we’re including five new metrics. Use these metrics in your custom queries to understand the impact of focus time and no-meeting days booked through Viva Insights. You’ll find them in the advanced insights’ Select metrics pane, under the Impact metrics group.

  • Booked focus hours – Number of hours a person booked as focus time in Viva Insights. Other appointments or meetings that employees added to their Outlook calendar without using Viva Insights aren’t counted.
  • Booked focus hours kept – Number of hours a person booked as focus time in Viva Insights that didn’t overlap with meetings, including time booked with and without a focus plan.
  • Booked focus hours kept with plan – Number of hours a person booked in Viva Insights, using a focus plan, that didn’t overlap with meetings.
  • Booked focus hours kept without plan – Number of focus hours a person booked in Viva Insights, without using a focus plan, that didn’t overlap with meetings.
  • Booked no-meeting days – Number of days a person booked as no-meeting days in Viva Insights.
