Calculating penalty rate hours in a shift that has differing penalty rates
Dear Members, I have been working on this spreadsheet for some time. I have been kindly helped as I have proceeded, but I still have a recurring issue I cannot solve. I am a bus driver and I am attempting to check my complicated payslip as there are continual mistakeswith my pay, especiallywith a penaltyrate that is calculated based on start and end times. I have attached a full description of the problem I am tryingto solve, which can be summarised as such; If I start work before 7:00am and finish after 7:00am I am paid on a pro-rata basis those hours worked. For example I f I start work at 5:30am and finish at 1:30pm I am paid a 15% penalty rate for 1.5 hours. If I startwork before 8:00pm and finish after 8:00pm I am paid for the full shift. For example if start work at 3:00pm and finish at 11:00pm I am paid a 15% penalty rate for 8 hours. The problem I am trying to solve is to create a formula(if possible) to calculate the varyingshifttimes. As such please also find attached a spreadsheet with a range of start and end time scenarios that I hope provides the entire scheme of penalty hours that I am trying to achieve. Dear discussion members, I have tried finding if there is an issue already addressed with my problem, and I have not been able to find any to date. Therefore I need your kind assistance and draw upon far more expertise than I have. I am putting together a spreadsheet to calculate my wages and I am trying to find a solution for the following problem: 1. I am paid a penalty rate of 15% for working the hours from 8:00pm to 7:00am the following morning. 2. My start and end times may vary, depending on the shift allocated to me. For example some days I may start at 5.00pm and finish at 1:30am, other days I may start at 9:00pm and finish at 10:00am. Generally there is a 50 minute break. 3. So as you can see some hours are not paid a penalty rate, that is if I am working before 8:00pm and conversely if I finish after 7:00am. How do I calculate those hours not incurring the penalty rate and those hours that are incuriing the penalty rate. Thank you for kind help .. I am building an excel spreadsheet for staff wages. I use a drop down list that describes the shift done, or as the case maybe, a day off. However the pay rates and associated penalty rates differ depending on the shift done. Is there a formula or function that can recognise a drop down description from my list and apply then apply relevant pay rate. Thank you3.4KViews0likes2Comments
