How to get island user to TeamsOnly?

Bronze Contributor

Hi there,

I have hybrid setup between SfBOnline and SfB. But I have some users who does not have Skype enabled, and they are using Teams normally as their Teams is in island mode. I thought I should turn them to TeamsOnly, as that should be the valid setup.

When I tried to do:

Get-CsOnlineUser -Identity | Grant-CsTeamsUpgradePolicy -PolicyName UpgradeToTeams

But that returns an error:

"Management object not found for identity "CN=..."

That is quite strange, as "Get-csOnlineUser" returns the user.

Do I read this correctly, to be able to move user from island to TeamsOnly, I must enable Skype at first for them?

You will need to assign a Skype online license for these users , yes! You need to be hosted on Skype online in order to enable Teams-only. So you need to migrate them from on-premises to online. Depending on Skype server version, you can either do it in 2 steps or in one
