Azure Virtual Desktop and Azure Nonprofit Credits

Copper Contributor

Hello, I'm Tom from IT4Causes and we love Microsoft's support for nonprofits!

A few years back, when Azure Virtual Desktop was just coming on line, we understood that we could not pay for AVDs using the $3500/yr Azure credit for nonprofits. Has that changed? Is anybody out there using their Azure credits for VDIs, and if so, how is working for you?

Thanks!

Hi Tom,

Yes you can still use the credits for Azure Virtual Desktop 🙂  What you can't use the credit for is buying Microsoft 365 licenses.  Azure Virtual Desktop pricing | Microsoft Azure

You are eligible to access Windows 10 and Windows 7 with Azure Virtual Desktop if you have one of the following per user licences*:

  • Microsoft 365 E3/E5
  • Microsoft 365 A3/A5/Student Use Benefits
  • Microsoft 365 F3
  • Microsoft 365 Business Premium**
  • Windows 10 Enterprise E3/E5
  • Windows 10 Education A3/A5
  • Windows 10 VDA per user

I am interested in how we would use AVD in our nonprofit. How is the deployment going?
