Support Tip: Does upgrading to OpsMgr 2012 R2 have you seeing double?

If you were using APM and/or Web Application Monitoring in System Center 2012 Operations Manager Service Pack 1 (OpsMgr 2012 SP1) and you then upgraded to System Center 2012 R2 Operations Manager (OpsMgr 2012 R2), you might see the following in your Management Packs view in the console:

Or, it’s possible you may see something like this:

So apparently you have two copies of the “Web Application Availability Solutions Library Resources” Management Pack, and two copies of the “Operations Manager APM Library Resources” Management Pack, the only difference being the case used for the locale (ENU vs enu), and the version.

So is this a serious problem and if so, what can we do to fix it?

The good news is that this is not a serious problem. This is purely cosmetic and the steps to correct it are pretty straightforward. All you need to do is simply delete the old versions of the MP, that is the ones versioned 7.0.9358.0.
