Your feedback is important to the VMM team. With UR5 we took one of the top items from the Windows Azure Pack UserVoice IaaS category . You probably know that the VMM team contributes the VM Role as part of the Windows Azure pack. The UserVoice item with the most votes for VM Role was an option to turn off differencing disks for the VM Role. My team wanted to know more, so we called up Marc van Eijk, the MVP who wrote up this suggestion on User Voice. Marc explained why this was important and referred us to others so we could learn more: Damian Flynn, Kristian Nese, Daniel Neumann, and Stanislav Zhelyazkov. We formed a cohort out of this group to discuss solutions and eventually test the implementation before we put it into UR5.

The VMM team was going to put together a blog post on this new VM Role option, but Marc wrote up such a great blog post on this topic, we decided to simply link to his post.  Great Job Marc! Thanks also to the rest of the cohort!

Here is Marc’s post on this new VM Role option:

This experience worked out so well that the VMM team has created our own VMM UserVoice to handle feedback about VMM beyond just our contributions to the Windows Azure Pack. But we will still track the items in the Windows Azure Pack UserVoice as well. Please vote for your favorite items or propose new ones, and don’t be surprised if we ask you to join in a cohort to address one of these items.
