Just a quick FYI on a new Knowledge Base article for DPM 2007 we recently published.  This article discusses an issue where when you try to perform a fast inventory with Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager 2007 (DPM), you may receive the following error message:

Type: Fast inventory
Status: Failed
Description: DPM failed to inventory the Tape Library IBM 35XX Tape Library. This is possibly due to a hardware issue. (ID 25011 Details: Internal error code: 0x80990C1B)
End time: MM/DD/YYYYh:mm:ssAM_PM
Start time: MM/DD/YYYYh:mm:ssAM_PM
Library: IBM 35XX Tape Library

Cause:

This issue can occur when you have tape cleaner media in an IBM 35XX series library, and you use DPM to try to run a fast inventory. When there is tape cleaner media in a slot or drive, and you try to run the fast inventory, this slot or drive returns an unhandled error message. In this scenario, the fast inventory fails.
