Following the recent Beta release of the
Service Management Portal and API for Windows Server
, a couple of our hosting solutions field guys in Europe reported issues getting the portal to successfully register SPF as the System Center provider for IaaS.
With special thanks to Michel Gebbinck & Steve Belton for always jumping on this stuff right away, and Marc van Eijk for his work on this issue, here’s the guidance we’ve settled on:
-
Follow the steps under “Enable Service Provider Foundation for use with a portal or application requiring basic authentication” at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj642898.aspx
-
Make sure the SPF VMM app pool account is a VMM Full Admin
-
Add the SPF VMM app pool account to the SPF server's local groups: SPF_Admin; SPF_VMM; SPF_Provider.
Thanks also to Marc Umeno, Gang Cheng, and everybody who participates in and supports our discussion alias and other community forums where a lot of this stuff gets sorted out.
Onward to final release!
