If you have been following the progress of Azure Site recovery service, you will recall that our priority has been to make Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions available to
everyone
, available
everywhere
, and
easy to use
. We started on this journey in January of this year with the General Availability of Azure Site Recovery which enabled simple and cost-effective DR between two private clouds. In June, we changed the game by releasing support for
Disaster Recovery to Azure
. Customers can save on the CAPEX of setting up and maintaining their own secondary site and leverage Azure as a globally available DR site for their virtualized workloads.
This month, things are getting more exciting. Last week, Microsoft announced the acquisition of
InMage Systems Inc.
, an innovator in the emerging area of cloud-based business continuity. InMage offers migration and disaster recovery capabilities for heterogeneous IT environments with workloads running on any hypervisor (e.g. VMware) or even on physical servers. InMage’s flagship product Scout is now available as a limited period free trial from the Azure Site Recovery management portal. This is a big step towards bringing DR solutions to everyone, everywhere.
