We are working closely with the Microsoft Teams product group to continuously improve the meeting and collaboration experiences on Surface Hub.

On March 30, we are updating the Microsoft Teams app on Surface Hub. This update brings fixes and quality improvements based on the feedback you've given us and enables us to light up new features coming this year.

What you need to know

Starting March 30, the Teams app on all Surface Hubs (both Surface Hub v1 and Surface Hub 2S) will receive an update from the Microsoft Store. Following the app update, Microsoft Teams will automatically update to version 0.2020.84.4301.
Simultaneously, all Surface Hub 2S devices will receive a new driver update to complement the Microsoft Teams experience. This update can only be delivered through Windows update.
If you’re running Microsoft Teams on Surface Hub, you will enjoy an improved Microsoft Teams meeting experience after the update is complete.

What you need to do

With this update, Microsoft Teams’ provisioning mechanism will perform a version check to confirm the Microsoft Store update has completed. This update can only be delivered through automatic updates. We recommend Automatic updates in the Microsoft Store app to ensure your Surface Hub is always up-to-date and, in particular, to enable your Surface Hub to receive this important update. If you disabled automatic updates, you would see the following error message when you launch the Microsoft Teams app:

Teams need update.png

To resolve this error, launch the Settings app (You will be asked to enter your device’s admin credentials) , then navigate to Surface Hub, Apps & features, Open Store:

In the Microsoft Store app, tap the 3 dots on the upper-right corner of the app and choose Settings:

Ensure Update apps automatically is toggled on:

One question i do have though is can you give any detail about what improvements we can expect to see once this update is done?

Thanks

Thanks @Yoav Barzilay, it'll be nice to update the Hubs but the article didn't really say what is new and improved about it?  Hope it is more stable but would like to see 3x3 video or 4x4 and also would like to be able to see chats in a meeting and more!

Thank you all for your feedback.

As mentioned in the article, we did not introduce new features in this update. We will enable new features later this year.
On the OS side we're updating drivers and firmware for Surface Hub 2S for an improved meeting quality.

On the Teams side, we updated the client and web version to resolve performance and experience issues.
