Whiteboard App Ink Beautification

Copper Contributor

I can't find the ink beautification button for the Whiteboard App on Windows 10, I am not using the app on a surface device, so it may not be in the right section, but I'm hoping somebody can tell me why it's not working or how to get it working.

Tl;dr: You need a commercial office 365 subscriotion.
On my brand new personal laptop I originally could not see the Ink Beautification option either. This was signed in with my personal profile with no subscriptions. Signing in with my corporate account resolved the issue.

@ras101

I have a Surface Pro 4 and a Surface Pro 6 - both personal devices with Windows 10 that I use for my consulting work but the ink beautification feature is not visible on either device. I am running the latest version of Whiteboard and I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it a couple of times. Super frustrating. Keen for this to work

In my whiteboard no this button

@Chuck9000. It only works with a corporate ID. I have also tried two different IDs without deleting or reinstalling just simply switching between them.

I digging into this issue so far and realized why Microsoft moderators suggest re-install only.

People from NON-US AREA may have their own keyboard setting, and ink beautification only works from US language setting. Please refer my below screenshots.

You may can see '한' as Korean language input setting, and with this option, ink beautification will not work.

However, select 'ENG' as English keyboard setting and ink beautification works really fine.

If you still have this issue, please try it. Moderators from US area will never know about it.

@Juyoung_Chung I changed the keyboard from German to US English, but unfortunately ink beautification still doesn't work. Also after having installed whiteboard again,  the symbol for the feature doesn't appear.

Any other idea???

Thanks in advance!

@Aschm78 Do you have M365 license for sign in?

To activate this feature, you need to change the keyboad option, sign in with M365 account, and use latest app version (might be start with 20.~).

Do you have time to get remote support? I have free time on this weekend. Please send me an email bodakara@hotmamil.com

I faced the same problem (couldn't find Ink Beautification) while logged in with personal Gmail. Later on, logged in with school email provided by my university and got the Ink Beautification option

I have your answer!!! I just spoke with the Microsoft team about this. You need the Office 365 subscription to access the feature. If you have it, then shoot I do not know. My issue was I did not have the subscription so once I switched to an account that had it, I was able to use the feature. Hope this helps!

Same problem for me on Asus Zenbook flip S.
Some users talk about type of account problem, it's not the fix.

I have try with personal account , professional account, local account, office 365 account, nothing work 😕

I have try to reset, reinstall de app, nothing work.

I have try different language, nothing work.

Please Microsoft fix this problem ...

@Maxis, this is about the standalone Whiteboard app on Surface Hub, not the one built into Teams.

so basically the standalone/local whiteboard app only got such "beautify" function? i just tried, dont see it...
