Surface Hub with Intune

I've been working on getting my surface hub recognized by intune, when I try to add the managment feature is gives me the error that we were unable to connect to work or school. Right now the Surface only has a local admin account. We don't have Advanced AD, do we need an AAD license in order to connect? I was hoping that with just the Basic AAD we'd be able to use the intune management.

You do need Azure AD to enroll the device, not necessarily Azure AD Premium though.

If you are synchronizing with AAD, be sure you are synchronizing the container in which your room accounts live.  I wasn't able to enroll any accounts until this was set up.
