New 2-way whiteboard appears to be rolling out to Surface Hub

MVP

Hey All!

Just a quick note to let everyone know that the 2-way whiteboard appears to be officially rolling out to Surface Hub devices. We received it via Windows Update today.

Note that you will need to sign in to the Whiteboard app and share a link to the other Surface Hubs that want to join the shared Whiteboard session.

EDIT: More information on my blog here - https://ucgeek.co/2017/06/new-2-way-whiteboard-rolling-surface-hub/

Have fun, we did! @Paul Bloem

I've posted a bit more information on my blog for those who are interested - https://ucgeek.co/2017/06/new-2-way-whiteboard-rolling-surface-hub/

I really like the collaborative features.  Just a couple observations that I've passed on to MS:

  • I’d like to see the collaborative whiteboard start after clicking the share button, without having to share a link with other Surface Hubs.  If you’re in a call or a meeting I think you should be able to share without having to send the link around.  I think Mural works this way today.
  • When you click Present Screen during a whiteboard collaboration session, if other Surface Hubs are part of the collaborative whiteboard session, it would be nice if they didn’t jump over to the Connect app.  This caused a little bit of confusion during testing.
  • Is there a timeline on when this will interop with the Skype client?  Mural also does interop with the PC client today.

100% agree with point 1 & 2 and sure that MS will address this in a future version.

I would say that this experience wont be imbeded in the current SfB client (my guess only). More likely that it will somehow support interop with the standalone app that will be made availble to Win10 devices later this year.
