Disk full: How to free some space?

Copper Contributor

Hi everyone,

we have a failing Windows Update on a Surface Hub 2 and apparently it is due to a full disk.

In Azure Portal we see there is 0.00 B free storage space for the device. Assuming this information is correct, how can we delete some files like %TEMP% or whatever. We have no access to the system drive. Even Admins only see their user folders which are all empty.

Hello @Juergen_ ,

I don't believe this is the problem. Given that the files are deleted after every session, it's unlikely this is the issue. Can you check which update is failing?

You can open a support case if you need assistance

Thank you,

Cezar

Has the SH2S already been upgraded to Windows 10 Teams 2020 or is actually this the pending update? If it is the pending update: we made some really good experiences to reset the devices to factory default with the new OS from a BMR image on a USB stick: https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/surfacerecoveryimage

Hello @markusliebel,

It depends on where the device is located. Not sure if you had the chance to look at this: Important Updates on the Surface Hub Windows 10 Team 2020 Update - Microsoft Tech Community

It should answer all your questions. Let me know if there are any other not covered by it

Best regards,

We couldn't wait for the 2020 Update so we're running an Insider Build on the SH. The device was useless with factory settings and Windows 1703.

Okay. So it's probably best to install the Team 2020 image.
