Surface Laptop 2 wakes up and talks by itself

Hello

I have a 2 day old new Sufrace 2 Laptop with Windows 10 Home and O365 subscription.  Having switched from a MacBook recently I barely had time to set this up. But the Windows is up to date and I haven't changed any default settings.

Yesterday was listening to a podcast on Chrome browser and paused it at 20 mins with 7 more mins to play. I left the browser open and use the laptop for few other things and closed the lid.

In the middle of the night the Surface Laptop started playing the podcast automatically and closed the browser to exit. It was bit freakish TBH.

My questions.

1. Why didn't laptop automatically go to sleep mode when I close the lid?

2. Why the laptop isn't in the battery saver mode with closed lid? I have already noticed the battery usage is high when just closing the lid. Should I select 'sleep' before closing the lid?

Note I already checked Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options -> System Settings has "Sleep" selected for "When I Close the lid" setting.
