Hi,

I have few queries on SSMS,

does SSMS come as an optional install feature with SQL Server?

• if yes, is there a difference between the bundled one and the standalone version
• if yes, is there a difference between how the two are updated. eg. can you use the smss standalone to update the one that came from the sql server installer and vice versa.

Can anyone please help me understanding about this?

Hi @pavan0806 

SSMS is now shipped and updated as a separate product on a separate cadence as SQL Server. There is no longer an option to install SSMS with SQL Server setup.
