Hi! I could use some assistance understanding and clearing up an event in my log....
Here is the error:
Login failed for user '<domain name>\<computer name>$'. Reason: Could not find a login matching the name provided. [CLIENT: <local machine>]
Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 5.
The event had my domain name and computer name in there.
I've seen a number of search results that refer to an issue with the sa account and I understand that. My error is referencing the server AD computer object.
I've tried creating a login for that object but that did nothing.
This is a clean install of SQL server and I have only the default instance created. Beyond enabling TCP/IP and Named Pipes protocols I have not done any other post install configuration. I wouldn't be surprised if it is just a configuration I am missing and could use some guidance.
