I ran a CMK rotation via SSMS on my Database (0.5 GB) about 1 hour ago and wanted to encrypt some more data but I always get the error:
Message:Task: 'Performing encryption operations' -- Status: 'Failed' -- Details: 'Task failed due to following error: Encryption cannot occur during an active column master key rotation.'.
But I cannot see any progress bar indication that rotation is not yet completed. How long can this take? Is there a way to view progress of CMK rotation?
And should I also use/create a new Column Encryption Key to use with the new CMK?
