Issue: SSRS 2017 is opening more Oracle 19C database sessions and also not releasing them

Copper Contributor

We use SSRS to generate report in our applications. We have recently upgraded our SSRS from 2008 R2 to 2017 and Oracle from 12C to 19C.

While doing this, we have noticed 2 problems:

Problem 1: SSRS 2017 is creating more database sessions as compared to SSRS 2008 R2. (This can be checked using "Select * from V$SESSION" in Oracle). For e.g. for same report generation in SSRS 2008 R2, 2 database sessions were used to get opened. While in SSRS 2017, 10 database sessions are getting opened.

Question: In SSRS 2017, is there any setting which defines that how many database sessions should be opened when we hit database?

Problem 2: One database session is not getting released even after the report is downloaded and 1-2 hours have passed. (in SSRS 2008 R2, all database sessions used to get removed after 4-5 minute)

Question: In SSRS 2017, is there any setting which allows SSRS to remove database session once report is generated?
