Tag for status alerts on within a group

I've just had a customer enable all their users' SfB clients to automatically sign in, however for some strange reason everyone is now getting status toast alerts for presence changes for colleagues within their group.

In my 12 years working with Skype/Lync/OCS/LCS I've never heard of this being enabled organisation-wide.

 

Has anyone else heard of or seen this? It threw the users off, and we weren't able to prepare them for it.

So does not look like there is a globaly policy for changing this.

Maybe there could be a registry setting to sett this, so you could use GPO to change it?

Thanks Alexander. My confusion is around how it turned on in the first place. That article doesn't really explain how it can be turned on the first place.
And the screenshot you've posted is only for DND.
