SRS V2 - Still worth investing in?

Copper Contributor

Hi All,

Looking at deploying SRS v2 in a new meeting room a client is getting set up, however, have a few questions I wanted to put into 1 place, I know these have probably been answered before but some of the info I'm looking for seems to be hard to find.

Again, new to the full Skype stuff so if anything I'm doing is going to not work please let me know.

Initial idea is to use the deployed Clearone and Atlona AV system for the room, consisting of some wireless mics and some video splitting, all managed themselves. will have a DSP that will be managing the inputs for the mics to hopefully prevent the feedback from ceiling speakers.

SRS setup I'm looking at is using a surface pro 6 business in a Logitech smart dock connected to the initial AV gear, with a Logitech Rally PTZ camera (really unsure if this bit will work), however was wondering if SRS v2 would straight install onto the surface pro with win 10 pro on it, or will it need a full reinstall of win 10 enterprise, or can i get one with 10 enterprise on it? (we never ever use surfaces normally, mainly push dell kit).

Any advice is much appreciated.

Thanks

I say no.

Better to take a device like a Polycom that integrates all the Skype Features. Dont forget that Skype For Business will be replaced by Teams in the next 2 years. SfB support will end soon after...

Hi,

Skype Room System changed name to Microsoft Teams Rooms, still the same system that supports both Teams and Skype for Business.

I can't say much about your design with audio devices since I don't know the room size, configuration, etc, but it looks like an advanced setup.

For deployment of the Surface use the deployment kit for SRS/MTR, it will help you create a USB stick to deploy SRS/MTR installation with Windows 10.

Logitech smart dock is going to be replaced by Logitech Smart Dock, I know that some stores don't sell the smart dock anymore,  so If you haven't bought it yet maybe the new Logitech Step is better or some other SRS/MTR is better for your needs.

@Linus Cansby Hi Linus, many thanks for your reply. The audio setup is relatively simple, just using a clear one DSP to manage my wireless mic inputs and feedback from the ceiling speakers, they are Skype for business approved but just didn't know if an srs room would support USB audio interfaces, Logitech step is something I haven't heard of yet, is this an extremely new product?
