SOF Simplification

As you might have already noticed, we decreased the amount of assets on the SOF web site, with the latest SOF Successful Engagement Release, along with the accompanying webcast. As we are continuously adding new functionalities to the Skype for Business Online and SOF all the time, what is the reason for such a decrease?

Because, as we strive to make it easier for customers and partner to leverage SOF, we started to consolidate many assets based on the feedback that we captured through the detailed interviews with selected partners and customers.

To start with the simplification journey, we initially focused on the SOF Plan phase. Here, we merged the activity description documents into the main assets around the topic. However, the Design and Migration documents and workshops have also gone through some more significant updates.

Design and Migration Planning Assets:

Before the simplification efforts, the “Get Deployed” and “Cloud Migration” SOF Journeys had dedicated workshops and design documents to assist your Skype for Business Online deployments and migrations.

With the latest release, we consolidated 10 assets into two:

  • One workshop to drive the design decisions required supporting the high-level architecture design, covering both Greenfield Skype for Business Online deployments and migration from an on-premises deployment, as well as Office 365 client deployment and management.

  • And a single document, that replaces six previous documents, to capture design decisions being made throughout the workshops.

We will continue working with the same principle to make the Deliver and Operate phases easier to consume. Stay tuned and check out further releases that we will announce here.
