Skype Room Systems v2 version 3.1.98.0 deployment kit is available for download from TechNet as of March 20th.

NOTE: Building an image with 3.1.98.0 and Windows 10 Version 1709 requires the addition of Win10 January Update KB4056892.  Also, a PS1 script is available on the TechNet site to more quickly build images.

See TechNet link here "Prepare the installation image".

Hello David,

Does this also mean that 1709 upgrade block has been removed as well?

Hi David,

what about existing and running SRS? They will automatically update to v. 3.1.98.0?
Thank you
Regards

Luca

Iron Contributor

Existing SRS will automatically update to the latest 3.1.100 (if you didn't disable Windows Store updates)

Copper Contributor

I'm finding that the 1709 install.wim file is too large for a FAT32 file system. Suggestions?

EDIT: So it appears that the script tries to copy the install.wim file to the USB drive prior to checking for updates. After this it deletes install.wim and adds the updates into a new copy that it splits with Split-WindowsImage. It seems the script needs to do this step much earlier. I was able to piece-meal it together for now.

Copper Contributor

Hi David,

You can use "/xf install.wim" to the end of the robocopy that copies the source to the USB stick. This excludes the (>4GB) wim from being copied to the stick. Then, -SourceImagePath on Export-WindowsImage should point to the WIM on the source ISO or copy the WIM from the source ISO to C: and export from there.

Also, perhaps someone knows: Is there (or will there be) a driver package for the Lenovo ThinkSmart Hub? I've asked Lenovo but have not heard back yet. I'm trying to build this for the Hub without drivers in the meantime.

JFYI... We're investigating the issues reported with the script.  Thanks for your patience.

Iron Contributor

Hi all,

what you need to change in the script to make it work:

The script fails when it tries to copy install.wim from original ISO to USB.

1. Exclude install.wim from copy process:

replace robocopy $WindowsMedia $TargetDrive /mir with robocopy $WindowsMedia $TargetDrive /mir /xf install.wim

 2. Remove line to delete install.wim as it wasn’t copied

delete line del (Join-Path (Join-Path $TargetDrive "sources") "install.wim") -Force

Thanks to Clayton and Eric!

Hi all,

I installed Windows 10 1709 + SRS App 3.1.98.0 on Lenovo Hub 500 and it's working fine! No issues so far. On-screen keyboard works in SRS app.

Copper Contributor

@Pavel Aivazov Great Job. Just trying to get the image prepared after modifying the script as described. The Step Cleanung up the image seems to take much to long. How long did the script need on your end to prepare the USB Stick completly?

SRSv2 Image.JPG

Iron Contributor

Hi Christian,

the script ran approx. 2 hours

Copper Contributor

Wow, okay. I am lucky then, it finished now after around 45 minutes. Installation went fine, so lets see the outcome once everything finished. Thanks for your feedback :)

Brass Contributor

My script has been running now for half an hour; still "copying windows"...and files on the USB stick with a total size of 456 MB...
Will wait some longer...(the "cleaning up the installation image" at the end takes some time)

Update: wrong Enterprise image; no error message. Problem solved with other Enterprise ISO version.
Went a lot faster.

Some tips:

* Formatting a >32 GB USB drive to fat32 with this GUI tool: http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm

* Mount an Enterprise Eng ISO version in windows explorer

* Download the files mentioned on Technet to a folder "123"

* Search for CMD in windows and start it as an admin

* I have used this sctipt at the command dos prompt:
powershell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File c:\123\createsrsmedia.ps1

* Script starts running and asks for some questions (told i was enterprise user)

Microsoft

CreateSRSMedia.ps1 script has been updated to better handle > 4GB file sizes.  Check it out here.

Hello David,

We are running more and more into challenges with the SRS system.

We are still in semi test / semi productive environment as we cant get SRS to a reliable state.

As of now we have 3 Installations with SRS in combination of the Logitech SmartDock and Logitech Group evaluating for about 5 month now, opened several Tickets with Microsoft Premium support, Logitech and our SFB consultant company, have hardware running through RMA etc.

However there was not a single week where the devices were stable and we had to reimage all the surface over and over again.

This is extremely disappointing and frustrating and is now affecting our Business as meetings have to be canceled or rescheduled due to not working SRS. We already lost face to our inhouse customers as well as our management board!

That are my two cents to the experience we made so far, now to my question.

Im doing a reimage of the Surface right now and facing a challenge with the required versions.

As of the Blog entry above I can see that Windows 1709 is now "supported" but not required:

@David Groom wrote:

See TechNet link here "Prepare the installation image".

The Technet article you linked also only states Version 1607 has run out of support:

srswin1607.png

However when I try to create an image with SRS 3.1.100.0 and Win10 v1703 I get told that its not supported either and only 1709 will work.

srswrongwing.png

We are not yet allowed to use 1709 as of company policies - how do I get around that as I have a feeling its not intended or not communicated properly?

The second question would be where do we get language packs from? We are Volume Licensing customers and retrieved single language pack for German as well as the MultiLanguage pack including german from licensing.microsoft.com. Those files came as cab files wrapped in an ISO but not as LP or LIP file and the script tells us its not a supported language file.

Last but not least is there a way to open a support ticket with a specialised Technician how knows about SRS without asking us to reimage or get Fiddler logs?

Hope you can help us on that!

Cheers

Jörg

Hello, I have a Windows Surface and Smartdock in my possession that I would like to equip with Skype Room Systems v2 image. However the image script CreateSRSmedia.ps1 results in various errors, even though when we tried to edit it ourselves.

Does anyone have a working script that I use to run the software on a usb drive?

Another question is how can I get the Skype Room Systems v2 software from Windows Store. Any help is really welcome. Thanks a million in advance.

Microsoft

@Rebin .- Have you been able to try the most recent script release a couple weeks ago?  It available here.

@David Groom,  sorry to be a bother, just wondering what is going on with development and my request that I put in 5/25/2018

Copper Contributor

@David GroomI have been trying to deploy a new Hub with Logitech Dock recently, (originally deployed on an earlier version but had to have the hardware repaired). Once I run through the required steps and create a USB stick I seem to run in to numerous problems with the Autounattend.xml containing errors.

Ive raised a premier ticket for this but wondered if you have experienced similar errors before:

I was trying to use a later version of 1803 with the createsrsmedia script.

Your Windows installation media is version 10.0.17134.285. Your SRSv2 kit requires version 10.0.17134.1.

Any way around this?

Microsoft

@Eric Fritz - No, it's necessary to use the Windows version required in the script.

Copper Contributor

Just a quick note.

My skill at troubleshooting script that big are not really good but running the script from a synced OneDrive for Business folder is not working. The problem must be all the space or the way they are named.

In y case, and this is the default; OneDrive - BusinessName.

Once I copied the script in a local folder without dash or space, everything was right.
