Why can't I add a mailto link to the Quick Links web part?

I really like the features of the Quick Links web part, but I need to be able to add a mailto: link... Is this going to be added soon? I can't be the only one needing to do this!

Since this is a very particular request, I would recommend to create a user voice item in SharePoint user voice so other can vote and the SharePoint Team decides to improve the Quick Links WebPart to provide this support

Agree with Juan, I'd vote for it if there isn't one there. Don't know how many times I've went to use mailto: on those links and couldn't. However, your work around is create a link on a url shortening service that supports open links like mailto. This one worked http://tny.im/ put in your mailto: link and then just use that as your Quick Link, works great.

Another alternative is to add a mailto: link to an image. Mailto works on an image.
